Day 7!

The team has pressed through yet another workday and finished up well. Things run a little differently down here in Puerto Cabezas so we were not able to get anymore of the wood siding from the mill because it had not been planed yet for us. And since there's no Home Depot or Lowes around here we leaned into what God had for us. Some of the team continued working on the houses to frame the roofing so that the crews after us could get the house covered. This crew worked hard through the heat and sun to get a lot done! The rest of the team went to a new place for us. It's a feeding center that Verbo ministries operates and we had a chance to help prepare a lunch and play with the kids that would receive the meals. The team immediately connected with the kids and began playing all sorts of games and just hanging out with them. We discovered that this center feeds lunch to 250-400 people every day! The vast majority of those are children ages 2-12 and for about 60% of them it is the only meal they will have that day. It's a great outreach and is truly making a difference as they have been able to track the health improvements in the children who have been receiving these meals. The team continued working on the houses in the afternoon doing as much as we could without the siding boards and once again played with the children in that area. After dinner we were able to go to the midweek Verbo Church service and well begin packing and cleaning as we start the first leg of our journey tomorrow! Well spend the day in Managua and then have some time together as a team to talk about our entire experience and what that means as we head back home. It'll be a great day!

But isn't one of the best parts building all these new relationships!!! I remember when I had to leave I A) Wanted to immediately move and become a missionary :-) B) I remember people telling me "Oh what a difference you helped make" . . . and all I could think was, No, those people there made a difference in MY life! Anyway, I'm hanging with your familia this evening! We've been looking at maps, looking at your pics . . . Having a "Samantha moment"! We all so proud of the amazing woman of GOD you are!! 21. Hey Beth, It's so awesome how you and your team could be such a blessing to the people there and can still build relationships along the way. I'm super excited you start your journey home soon and I hope it is a safe trip for everyone. I think I'm going through withdrawals of cuddling to relax most nights so definitely going to enjoy cuddling with you again. Pandora also seems to be spying on me because one of my stations started playing "Here Without You" and it automatically made me think of you. Anyways have a safe trip and I'll be there to pick you up bright and early Sunday. Only 35 hours and 16 minutes until I see you again!

PS: To Derek, Bromley gave the rest of the block of cheese to Trouble when he was over so none will be left when you get back.

  24. Dear Nicaricans, Kelly here. Sorry I haven't posted yet- I just got home yesterday, so I hope that you get this before you hit the road back to the land that brought this world decent-sized hamburgers (thank God for that). Anyways, it looks like you guys have an absolutely incredible team- and I don't say that lightly. I must confess that while I was looking through the photos, I became a little jealous that I'm not there. You guys are living God's plan right now and Christ knows of wildly marvelous plans for ALL of you after this trip. God's love for all of you is unequaled and I think that as you guys go through the day he watches you with a loving heart ready to take over any of your cares and wanting to hang out with you and work through you. I suppose now may be a good time for a Bible verse, so here it goes: God says, "I know what I'm doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for." (Jeremiah 29:11) As you guys finish up the trip, lean in, listen, have fun, and take a metaphorical chill- pill. I'm so proud of you guys! Okay, lastly, a joke: A horse walks into a bar. Several people got up and left as they spotted the potential danger in the situation. And lastly: What do you call a sheep with no legs? A cloud.
Okay, SO LONG MY BRETHEREN FROM OTHER MRETHEREN.

P.S. There are a few folks there who I would classify as fan-frickin'-tastic best friends who I haven't seen in over six million years, but really only in over six weeks who I miss like my dead goldfish misses water, so please don't miss your flight.
