Monday Recap

Our work projects got off and running in a BIG WAY today! The team split in two to maximize our impact and help with 2 homes for family deeply in need! One family has severely outgrown their tiny house and one team is helping build on an addition that will from the looks of it triple their living space.  The other family does not have a stilt house which is a huge safety and sanitary issue when flooding happens.  Their current house is more of a lean to and well be able to get that family up in a stilt house this week.

Both teams today did lots of measuring, sawing and hammering! With the help of some great Nicaraguans we were a well-oiled construction crew in no time!  Great progress was made today and the team is eager to get out and get after the projects tomorrow!

This evening we spent more time with the orphans as we played more games, laughed together and we played a sport which we had a chance in, BASKETBALL!  Needless to say it was much more victorious than our soccer games :)

After dinner we were also able to throw an ice cream party for the orphans! The ice cream was a great treat but I think the orphans and the team would agree that it was even better to get all that time together!

Time for some rest so we can work hard again tomorrow! Pictures coming in the AM!

PS-just a reminder you can get short live updates from our days on the GSM Facebook page.  Just go to facebook and search for Granger Student Ministries! Or follow @gsmlive on Twitter

  1. Liv - So, was that "dookie" pop really yours? Amazing craftsmanship, I must say! Looking forward to hearing about your experience in a 3-hour Sunday service. That's some serious worship and preaching! :) Looking forward to all your stories - of new friends, the house build, all of it. Love you gobs, girl!

All of you - we're praying for a fantastic experience of challenged faith, crazy God-surprises, few blisters and tons of fresh memories. You're the Church, the body of Jesus - proud of all of you!

  4. Good Tuesday morning Cory! It is overcast and rainy here today but I have a whole new perspective on that after seeing all of the mud that the people there have to deal with on a daily basis! It's kind of like continuously camping in the rain! I can't wait to hear all of your adventures of stuck buses, getting pummeled in soccer, use of tools and building, and getting to spend time with those beautiful children....I still think you need a little sister:)! (Maybe you could sneak one in your carry on....ok not really, but they are soooo beautiful in the pictures) I saw that your devotion was on Monday.....awwww.....this mama is so proud!! I hope you know how amazing you are! I miss you like crazy, but I really do think Scamp misses you most!

DC, Johnnie and leaders - Thank you so much for leading so well, being such awesome Christ followers and examples for Cory to learn from and grow with. There are no words to describe the gratefulness that I feel as a Mother that my son has such amazing leaders to be inspiried and challenged by. I am praying for your families, as you are there, and prayng that as you pour yourselves out, God pours in to you and that you physically feel His pleasure and joy for you as you serve Him, the students and the precious people of Nicaragua!

Well, it's off to the chicken shack!!

Love and blessings to you! Mom a.k.a Kathy Wonderly

  6. Well, we posted on here last night, but something must have happened (I'm certain it has nothing to do with being tired, and maybe not clicking the "Post Comment" button). Anywho, the pictures are great, we are excited for all of you!

I can't remember all the cool things we said last night, but at least remember the verse we prayed for the team: 2 Corinthians 9:8 "God can pour on the blessings in astonishing ways so that you're ready for anything and everything, more than just ready to do what needs to be done."

We pray that the entire team is an "astonishing" blessing to their new friends in Nicaragua, and that everyone is ignited by the spirit to work hard and love harder!
