Day 5!
Another amazing workday today!! The team got back at it on the houses and once again did some serious work!!! After finishing up the flooring we got to work framing up the walls. It was a pretty productive morning considering we didn't have any power! Yup, we did all the sawing for the end of the flooring and the first two walls by hand! Made for an interesting but awesome morning!
After lunch the team got cranking and we had power back so we got some great work done! The walls on both houses are almost completely done! We've just got a couple short walls left and then it's on to siding all the walls on the outside! Were making great progress and expect to have another great update tomorrow!

Hi, Samantha. I just read the blog to your dad, and he is excited that you are learning about the building process; he also said that he loves you and is very proud of you!
ReplyDeleteAs I read the blog today, I was so impressed by the work done by the team of GCC! You have served God's people through your labor. I searched for a verse that would be fitting for the day at hand. I Corinthians 15:58 seemed so appropriate: "Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain." I can't imagine the degree of physical and mental stamina that is required to build a house without power tools! Way to go, team!
I leave all of you today with the words of Paul in the last verse of 2 Corinthians: "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all." Keep up the hard work!
I love you, Samantha! I love you too, Alex!
Mom O.
Dear Team, I am so amazed how you plow through opposition. It's like you hold the banner "If God is for us who can stand against us"! I still am in awe that you guys would choose hard work, sweat, and probably not enough sleep to spend a week+ of your summer vaca to serving others. What an example you are setting. It make me want to serve better. I pray you feel God's power and strength, and not to mention his blessings, of a job well done as you move through more of your week. I love you Sammy P and miss you!!!

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

I hope you all are taking some time this week to STOP and thank God for all your blessings and I hope you are taking some time to LOOK AROUND and see God in not only the big things, but the small things as well. As I lie here reading the blog and thinking of all the hard work that you all are doing I can't help but picture a mother on her knees at night praying over her children on the floors that you all have built with your hands.
